It is the responsibility of each TEAM CAPTAIN to read, understand,
and adhere to this Rainout Email policy. Thank you.
All games should be played as scheduled, unless
the League Commissioner has explicitly cancelled the game or field conditions at game time do not
allow it. Decisions about the 6:00 PM games will be made by 4:30 PM.
If you are a subscriber to our e-newsletter,
BWCS News, you
should receive an email notifying you of the game's status around 4:30 PM. If you do not have
email access before game time,
please contact your team captain. If you are a Team Captain, you may call
the League Commissioner for rainout status. If
you do not receive a BWCS News Rainout Notice email by
4:30 PM on a questionable weather day, YOU MUST CALL
THE COMMISSIONER if you are the CAPTAIN. Only CAPTAINS are to call the Commissioner
for Rainout information. Between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM, there should be a
rainout status message regarding the 6:00 PM games recorded on the Commissioner's answering
machine. Often
"blanket" cancellations of all games at 4:30 PM are not
necessary as the weather might clear up by the later games or
conversely, the weather
might worsen after the early game. Therefore, if you have doubts about the
weather and a blanket cancellation
has NOT been issued via BWCS News, call the Commissioner
as detailed below:
| Your Scheduled Game
Time |
Call Commissioner by |
| 6:00 or 6:15 PM |
4:15 PM–4:30 PM |
| 7:30 or 7:45 PM |
6:15 PM–6:30 PM |
| 9:00 PM |
7:45 PM–8:00 PM |
This modification to the Rainout communication process is
to ensure that there is a clear contingency communications plan for when neither Bob nor
Cameo are available
to send the YahooGroups email or when technology somehow lets us down.
Remember, it
is each Team Captain's responsibility to call the Commissioner if s/he does
not receive a BWCS News Rainout Status email by 4:30 PM
on an inclement day and to communicate the status to his/her team. Rained
out games will be made up. Forfeits will not. Hopefully, no rain during game
time!! Good luck this season. Boston
